Miriam "Mimi" Macip
AKA Commander Mimi
Miriam “Commander Mimi” Macip brought an all-out, fearless style to the EPIC Fighting cage. At 34 years old, Miriam had been exposed to martial arts since childhood, learning self-defense and Krav Maga from her father, a former police officer in Mexico, before training in various martial arts including Taekwondo and Lima Lama.
After returning seriously to martial arts in her early 30s, Miriam quickly embraced MMA as her discipline of choice. She trained at Teams MMA in Chula Vista and Steel, focusing on bringing together striking, grappling, and wrestling into one complete MMA game. Her training intensity was relentless, often training six days a week and up to two and a half hours per day.
Miriam entered EPIC Fighting with competitive experience in MMA, Jiu-Jitsu, and Judo. At the 2025 Jiu-Jitsu Worlds, she finished four of five matches by submission, showcasing the grappling ability that complemented her aggressive MMA style.
Known as “Commander Mimi,” she lived by a philosophy of personal responsibility and control, believing that she commanded her own body, choices, and destiny. Inside the cage, that mindset translated into one simple approach: go forward, fight hard, and let her instincts take over.
For Miriam, fighting was more than competition. It was a way to challenge herself, stay strong, and show her three daughters what it meant to pursue something she was passionate about.
Commander Mimi brought her signature intensity as the main event's champion of the EPIC 65 fight night.
